Remember my post about new requirements for replacement tires in California in 2029 and 2033?
As you can guess, not everyone is 100% supportive.
“Tire companies, like Goodyear, warn that these regulations will phase out about 70% of current tire inventory and significantly increase upfront costs to CA drivers.
“The [California Energy Commission] disagrees with industry estimates. They ‘predict’ that a set of four tires will only cost about $6 more in 2029 and $26 more in 2033. Regulators claim these upfront costs will be offset by fuel and electricity savings within three to four years.
“The devil is in the details. The controversy is less about theCEC’s ‘artful’ use of math in the study. More importantly, it’s about whether the study’s ‘cost inputs’ the math is based on are realistic.”
