How do you identify someone or something that is referred to by multiple names?
Today the NPE in the news is Lake Ontario / America, which brings to mind the previously renamed Gulf of Mexico / America.
But there are other examples, such as Deutschland / Alemania / Germany.
Or take the two people who I referenced in my prior post, but not by their legal names.

Or what if two people use the SAME name, such as Mick Jones the English guitarist and…Mick Jones the English guitarist?

There is no universally accepted registry of unique identifiers for people, countries, gulfs, or lakes.
I learned this the hard way. I publicly use the name John E. Bredehoft because I didn’t want people to confuse me with the Virginia lawyer John Bredehoft or the Alabama plumber John Bredehoft…or vice versa.
Well, the lawyer is John M. Bredehoft, so the distinction helped.

But the Alabama plumber sadly passed away in 2023, and only then did I learn that HIS middle initial is also E.
